Sorry I could not make it down for the Grand Opening. I really enjoyed visiting with Glenn Snow at my home in Tempe and showed him the original lock for the front door of the jail which I treasure as it was a gift from my father, Gail Price, who was born at Light, AZ (about half way between Pearce and the Chiricahua Mountains where his dad (Ike Price) and his mother (Mary "Grandma" Price homesteaded along Turkey Creek. Luther Price, the hombre in the historical sketch "A Price on His Head" was my grandfather's older brother and was guest at the Gleeson Jail until they discovered he had smallpox so they had to isolate him. My grandfather's home and my folk's home was built from gypsum block they bought from what was originally the Gleeson Hospital. At the time they were removing the blocks to transport to the Price Ranch is when my dad found the old Yale lock that originally locked the jail house front door! I have had a chance to visit the jail since restoration took place and those of you taking on the task did one "helluva" job! You are to be commended. Hopefully someone will do the same to the old Courtland jail which is very similar to the Gleeson jail. Great job fella's!

Just wanted to say good job on the jail. My brother Bobby and I grew up in Gleeson in the 80s our parents leased the Bono store but back then it was a bar from the Bono family. The trailer behind the store if it is still there is what my parents owned that is where we lived. Looking at the pictures brought back alot of memories I have been to all those places when I was growing up. I don't know if Mike is still living there but if you see him tell him Hello from Jackie Gammon.

It was very interesting to see Gleeson in its "hay day"! I was born in Gleeson (1948), along with my brother Pancho at my Paternal Grandmother's (Maria Caldera) house. My other brother Edward Jr, was born at my Maternal Grandmother's (Paula Amarillas)house who was a midwife and assisted in all our births, who also helped many other residents of Gleeson have their children. My Mother Manuela Gonzales Caldera and my Father Edward Caldera Sr. both went to school and grew up in Gleeson. They attended the Gleeson School and had a lot of good memories. Francisco and Maria Carrillo, Paula Amarillas and Juan Amarillas are laid to rest in the Gleeson Cemetery. My Grandmother's (Paula)house walls made of adobe are still standing today.

The Grand opening was more than we could have hoped for.....In spite of rain all day emotions were rampant. 4 & 5 generations of Gleeson Families, photos, stories, hugs and exchanges of addresses...Locals, tourists, and just plain old family and friends. Glenn Snow, Stan and Connie Benjamin (professional Historians)sat for hours on end taking information and sharing their knowledge without a break, John my better half kept the visitors welcomed and kept everything flowing smoothly....All of you are more than family to me Thank you, thank you, ...Tina Miller
